Where it all started

NB Clark’s roots trace back to the mid-60s when Norman Braithwaite Clark, originally from Branxton, Northumberland, commenced his construction journey in Morpeth. After working on notable projects like Kirkhill and Loansdean estates, he decided to venture into independent endeavours, founding NB Clark in 1965. Operating from Coopies Lane Industrial Estate, our early years were dedicated to building a solid reputation through various projects for local residents in the Morpeth area.

How it evolved

Over the years, NB Clark flourished, expanding both in projects and workforce, employing local staff and providing apprenticeships for young people, including Norman’s two sons, Jeffrey & Duncan.

The mid to late 90s witnessed diverse ventures, including inner-town developments like Olivers Mill in Morpeth and a number of mixed-unit developments for Housing Associations across Northumberland and Newcastle.

The turn of the century marked the establishment of Clark Homes Ltd, the development arm of our business. Teaming up with Johnnie Johnson Housing Association, we embarked on significant projects, notably constructing over 90 houses and bungalows in Belford.
